He joined Portsmouth Internal Medicine in 1981. Dr. Schwartz attended the University School of Medicine in Louisville, KY, before going on to complete his residency and internship at Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, N.Y.Dr. Schwartz is very involved in several community interests. He devotes much of his spare time to the Temple Israel, and is a member on the New Hampshire Board of Medicine. Dr. Schwartz loves to travel the world and has taken special interest in becoming fluent in Italian.

Care Philosophy: Dr. Whipple has a specific interest in the primary care of cancer survivors, as well as patients with active cancer. Much of her research focuses on the relationship between cancer and the treatment of chronic diseases like diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, depression, and anxiety.

Care Philosophy: Internal medicine allows me to have extensive hospital training with a focus strictly on adult medicine, which is my preference. My special area of interest leans towards diagnosis and treatment of acute and sub acute illnesses. Care Philosophy: Many years ago, when I was contemplating going into medicine as a career I was often asked why. My response was typically because I wanted to help others. Throughout my career, that has been my goal ultimately to help those patients seeking my care. I have found it is best to begin by treating the patient as a person, an individual. Each patient should be treated with respect. I try to provide the same high-quality care for all of my patients regardless of age, health status, or other factors.
